What This Webinar Covers

Bullying is a significant public health issue that impacts individuals across the lifespan. This presentation will address the relationship between mental health correlates and consequences of bullying among school-aged youth. Participants will learn about the connections between mental health disorders and involvement in bullying. Participants will learn about two programs designed to help both perpetrators and targets of bullying. Research shows that perpetrators of bullying are best helped by an individualized intervention and targets of bullying are best helped by a group intervention. Both approaches will be offered as practical tools to help stop bullying behaviors and ameliorate their negative consequences.

Learning objectives. Participants will:

  1. Understand that bullying involvement is a mental and public health problem
  2. Learn about an individualized cognitive-behavioral intervention for bullying perpetrators
  3. Learn about an online group intervention for targets of bullying
  4. Understand the connections between depression, anxiety, conduct problems, and bullying involvement
