What This Webinar Covers
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a person-centered, guiding style of communication to help people change and grow. MI is effective in a broad range of settings, populations, languages, formats, and cultures. This talk will introduce school mental health professionals to the basic relational and technical skills of MI with an emphasis on application for children and adolescents.
About the Speaker

Kelly Walker Lowry, Ph.D.
Kelly Walker Lowry, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. She currently serves as the Director of Training in Psychology at Lurie Children’s Hospital where she oversees the practicum student training, APA accredited internship program, and postdoctoral fellowship programs. Dr. Lowry has been a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) since 2011 and has particular expertise supporting MI learners working in medical and behavioral health settings through clinical training, supervision, and research partnerships.
