What This Webinar Covers

Depression is a pervasive problem among middle and high school students. This talk will provide school counselors and mental health professionals a deeper understanding of the ways depression can present itself among students, and a cognitive-behavioral framework for treating depression in schools. It will cover a variety of strategies to help students suffering from depression. The talk will also address issues that can arise including risk, confidentiality, when to seek outside support etc.

Sara Steinberg, PhD
Sara Steinberg, PhD is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Rye Brook, NY. She has two decades of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. Her expertise is in CBT and DBT, and she also has specialized training in other evidenced based approaches including mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Based Therapy, and SPACE (Supportive Parenting of Anxious Childhood Emotions). Dr. Steinberg also has experience providing CBT and DBT consultation to school counselors and mental health professionals. She is on the voluntary faculty at New York-Presbyterian and supervises postdoctoral fellows.
