What This Webinar Covers
This webinar will provide a brief overview of how “back-to-school” anxiety can present from a cognitive behavioral framework. It will outline tiered interventions and suggested supports for students who are dealing with anxiety at school and/or demonstrating signs of school avoidance. The training will share recommendations on how to communicate effectively with caregivers to collaboratively reduce accommodations of anxiety. Discussion will also explore how to align administrative school policies (e.g. attendance and grading) with effective anxiety management and reinforce consistent attendance. Case examples will be presented and discussed to strengthen participant learning.

Courtney DeAngelis, Psy.D.
Courtney DeAngelis, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in New Jersey. Dr. DeAngelis was previously a clinical psychologist and supervisor at the Columbia University Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CUCARD-Westchester). Dr. DeAngelis works with children, young adults and parents with anxiety disorders, OCD, school avoidance, and/or posttraumatic stress. She has experience providing consultations to school districts, as well as workshops for school and community providers. In addition, Dr. DeAngelis serves as the chair of ABCT’s Continuing Education committee, where she contributes to the planning and development of webinars for their national CBT organization, in line with her mission to disseminate clinical knowledge of evidence-based treatments.
