How we deliver lasting improvement
We’re proud to provide best-in-class mental health care for a wide variety of emotional and behavioral challenges. Here’s how we do it.

Gold-standard behavior therapy
We lead with evidence-based care. Our therapists primarily use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), the gold-standard, first-line treatment for anxiety, depression, and other common mental health challenges. CBT helps kids, teens, and young adults develop practical skills they can use every day for lasting emotional resilience.
Close collaboration with parents
Parents are essential partners in the therapy process, which is why our care model includes ongoing training and support just for you. We offer scheduled parent training sessions using BPT (behavioral parent training), a research-backed approach that helps parents manage emotional and behavioral challenges at home with confidence and consistency.
We also encourage regular check-ins with your child’s therapist between sessions, so you can stay in the loop and feel supported every step of the way.
Providers with the tools to succeed
Our licensed therapists and clinicians are specially trained to work with children and adolescents across all stages of development. But we don’t stop at credentials — we invest in continuous growth.
Every provider spends 15% of their weekly time in expert-led consultations, clinical case review, and ongoing training, ensuring that they’re always equipped to deliver the highest quality care. Because better-supported therapists mean better outcomes for your child.
Online Therapy that Works
Here are some of the most common challenges that kids & teen face and seek therapy for
Anxiety Therapy for Kids & Teens in Florida
Anxiety is the most common mental health concern Handspring treats, and one of the most treatable. Our licensed Florida therapists specialize in evidence-based anxiety therapy for kids and teens — including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, separation anxiety, panic attacks, and school-related anxiety. Using approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and exposure therapy, our Florida anxiety therapists help children and adolescents build real coping skills they can use at home, at school, and with friends. If your child struggles with persistent worry, avoidance, physical symptoms like stomachaches before school, or sleep problems driven by anxious thoughts, teen anxiety therapy with Handspring can help. Sessions happen over secure video from the comfort of your home — which many anxious kids actually prefer over in-person appointments.
ADHD Therapy for Kids & Teens in Florida
ADHD looks different in every child, and our Florida ADHD therapists tailor treatment to how your child’s ADHD actually shows up — whether that’s trouble focusing in school, emotional dysregulation, impulsivity, or executive function challenges like starting homework or managing time. Our ADHD therapy for kids combines behavioral strategies, parent coaching, and skills training that help families build structure without constant conflict. For teens, our Florida therapists focus on self-advocacy, study skills, and managing the emotional side of ADHD — which is often the part that gets missed. We don’t prescribe medication, but if your child is already on an ADHD medication (or you’re exploring whether medication might help), our therapists coordinate with your pediatrician or psychiatrist to make sure therapy and medication work together.
Depression Therapy for Teens in Florida
Teen depression is rising, and it rarely looks like adult depression. In teens, it often shows up as irritability, withdrawal from friends and activities, changes in sleep or appetite, or a drop in school performance — not sadness. Our licensed Florida therapists specialize in depression therapy for teens using evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and behavioral activation. We work with your teen on the thought patterns driving their depression, help them reconnect with activities that used to bring joy, and — when appropriate — involve parents so the whole family feels supported. Virtual sessions make it easier for teens who are already struggling to show up. If your teen has been withdrawn, hopeless, or just “not themselves” for more than a few weeks, teen depression therapy is worth exploring.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens on a free consult call?
The free 30-minute consult is conducted by a member of our intake team. It is an opportunity to share what is happening for your child, learn about Handspring’s approach to care, and determine whether we are the right fit for your family. During the call, we discuss your goals, answer your questions, and outline what ongoing care would look like. If you would like an insurance estimate before your call, please include your insurance details when booking, and we will verify your benefits and share your per-session cost in advance. Book a free consult.
Who are your Florida therapists?
All Handspring therapists are W-2 employees, not independent contractors. We are not a marketplace. Every Florida therapist is a fully licensed clinician with specialized training in working with children, teens, and young adults. Each is backed by a clinical supervision team and participates in regular trainings to ensure consistent, high-quality care. When you book a consult, our intake team matches your child with a therapist who specializes in their specific needs, whether that is anxiety, ADHD, depression, school-related challenges, or another concern.
Do you provide parenting support?
Yes. Parenting support is one of Handspring’s three core services, available in two forms. Parent coaching is a standalone, skills-based service focused on practical strategies for managing specific behavioral or emotional challenges at home. Therapy for parents provides separate support for parents managing their own stress, anxiety, or the emotional demands of raising a child who is struggling. When a child’s disruptive behavior is the primary concern, we often use Behavioral Parent Training (BPT), in which strategies are taught, modeled, and practiced so parents can apply them effectively in daily situations.
How do I know if you take my insurance, and how much will it cost?
We accept most major insurance plans in Florida, including Florida Blue, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Optum, and Oscar Health. Because plan coverage is nuanced and varies by specific policy, the best way to confirm is to book a free consult and submit your insurance details. We will verify your benefits and share your exact copay estimate before your call. Most families pay under $30 per session with insurance. Without insurance, sessions are $125 in Florida. We also accept FSA and HSA payments. Book a free consult.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is an assessment session with your Florida therapist. The focus is on getting to know your child, understanding what is happening at home and school, identifying your family’s goals, and beginning to build rapport. Your therapist will ask questions, explain how ongoing sessions will work, and outline next steps. The session is intentionally low-pressure; we do not address the most difficult topics in the initial meeting. The level of parent involvement going forward is tailored to your child’s age and needs, and we discuss this before the first appointment.
Can young adults book without a parent?
Yes. Young adults age 18 and over can book their own consult and schedule therapy independently in Florida; parent involvement is not required. If a young adult prefers to include a parent in the consult or in their ongoing care, we can accommodate that. For anyone under 18, a parent or legal guardian books the consult and participates in the call.
What ages do you treat?
Handspring provides therapy for children ages 8–12, teens ages 13–17, and young adults ages 18–29. We also offer parent coaching for parents of children age 2 and up, and therapy for parents at any life stage.
Can I change my therapist?
Yes. We recommend giving your matched therapist at least one month of sessions before deciding on a switch, since building rapport with a child or teen often takes several sessions. If for any reason you would like a change, we will rematch your child with another specialist on our team.
