"The process of intake is thorough and the therapists are fantastic. I have a second child now seeing another therapist and both of my children have reported they enjoy their time and look forward to meeting each week. The therapist’s keep on good contact with me as the parent as well. Topping it off, having it be online allows my children to have access to care which they otherwise wouldn’t be able to. Thank you!"

"Even though my child decided to switch to in-person therapy, her experience over the past year has been so helpful. We had no idea she was having panic attacks, but her therapist recognized that and suggested having her meet with a psychiatrist to try medication."

"Megan was the best, she is so sweet and patient. So sad we had to stop care as my insurance changed, but once we can we will go back."

"Megan was so valuable to our family during a trying time in our lives. My son needed someone to understand him and show him how to ask for help when he needs it. He has gone from failing multiple classes to being an honor student. He’s been so helpful around the house and is all around a happy child. We’re so grateful that we made the choice to go with Handspring and that he found Megan as his therapist. Now I know that if he ever needs therapy again in his life, he will have a positive experience to guide him to it."

"My son and I are extremely grateful for our time spent with Megan. We would 100% be continuing sessions with her if it was not for our insurance change to a policy not accepted by Handspring. Megan is AMAZING, and had a tremendous impact helping my son understand his anxiety and learning to manage it!"

FAQs

What age range do you treat?

We provide virtual therapy for:

‍

  • Children ages 8–12
  • Teenagers ages 13–17
  • Young adults ages 18–29
  • Parents of children over age 2 for parent coaching and support.

Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person care?

Yes. For the most common mental health challenges in children and teens, including anxiety, depression, and trauma, virtual therapy is clinically proven to be just as effective as in-person care.

‍

Comparable Outcomes: A major 2021 meta-analysis published in American Psychologist reviewed data from tens of thousands of youth and found that teletherapy outcomes were comparable to in-person therapy for anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

‍

Strong Connection: Studies confirm that the "therapeutic alliance" (the trust and bond between a child and their therapist) forms just as strongly over video as it does face-to-face.

‍

Better Consistency: Virtual care often leads to higher attendance rates because it removes common barriers like travel time, traffic, and scheduling conflicts.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes — we’re in-network with:

‍

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Aetna
  • Oscar
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Optum
  • Cigna
  • AmeriHealth

‍

Before services start, we’ll verify your benefits and let you know your exact copay. Most families pay less than $30 per session (including all costs such as copays, deductibles, and coinsurance).

‍

We currently do not accept Medicaid, CHIP, or other state-based plans.

Can I talk to my child’s therapist between sessions?

Absolutely - we see parents as essential partners in the therapy process. We encourage regular check-ins with your child’s therapist between sessions so you can stay in the loop and feel supported every step of the way.

What happens during the consult call?

Your 30-minute consult is a chance to share what’s going on for your child, learn about Handspring’s approach, and see if we’re the right fit. We’ll walk through your goals, answer questions, and outline what care could look like for your family.

Who joins the call?

Typically, a parent or guardian joins the call. If your child is 18 or older, they’re welcome to join directly — or together with you if that feels best.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No referral is needed. Parents and caregivers can book directly with us — it only takes a few minutes.

What if I want a consult for multiple children?

We’re happy to accommodate families with multiple children. Consults last 30 minutes for one child, 45 minutes for two, and 60 minutes for three.
