"My daughter’s therapist, Christine Saint-Cyr, was absolute amazing. She not only worked with my daughter, but also gave me things that I could do at home to help the process along. She took our concerns seriously and celebrated my daughter’s successes. Christine embodies what a therapist should be. I am eternally grateful for her."

"Kellie was wonderful! She was the first therapist Jackson felt comfortable enough to share his struggles with and who took the time to listen to him. My son has since ended his treatment with better coping strategies and a happier version of himself overall. Would recommend Handspring and especially Kellie."

"Working with Handspring has been a tremendous experience that has resulted in: 1) establishing tools for my child to use when feeling anxious 2) creating lasting change in my child in terms of being able to identify anxious thoughts and learning to manage them in a healthy way and 3) allowing my child to develop more self confidence to deal with peers in anxiety-provoking situations. Overall, an incredibly positive experience! Would highly recommend!"

"Shanna has been an absolute lifesaver for our son. He began treatment with an anxiety score of 54 and ended treatment with an 18. He has grown into a totally different child. It was bittersweet being able to discharge him. Shanna has become part of our family and I am forever grateful for the life she gave back to my son."

FAQs

What age range do you treat?

We provide virtual therapy for:

‍

  • Children ages 8–12
  • Teenagers ages 13–17
  • Young adults ages 18–29
  • Parents of children over age 2 for parent coaching and support.

Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person care?

Yes. For the most common mental health challenges in children and teens, including anxiety, depression, and trauma, virtual therapy is clinically proven to be just as effective as in-person care.

‍

Comparable Outcomes: A major 2021 meta-analysis published in American Psychologist reviewed data from tens of thousands of youth and found that teletherapy outcomes were comparable to in-person therapy for anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

‍

Strong Connection: Studies confirm that the "therapeutic alliance" (the trust and bond between a child and their therapist) forms just as strongly over video as it does face-to-face.

‍

Better Consistency: Virtual care often leads to higher attendance rates because it removes common barriers like travel time, traffic, and scheduling conflicts.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes — we’re in-network with:

‍

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Aetna
  • Oscar
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Optum
  • Cigna
  • AmeriHealth

‍

Before services start, we’ll verify your benefits and let you know your exact copay. Most families pay less than $30 per session (including all costs such as copays, deductibles, and coinsurance).

‍

We currently do not accept Medicaid, CHIP, or other state-based plans.

Can I talk to my child’s therapist between sessions?

Absolutely - we see parents as essential partners in the therapy process. We encourage regular check-ins with your child’s therapist between sessions so you can stay in the loop and feel supported every step of the way.

What happens during the consult call?

Your 30-minute consult is a chance to share what’s going on for your child, learn about Handspring’s approach, and see if we’re the right fit. We’ll walk through your goals, answer questions, and outline what care could look like for your family.

Who joins the call?

Typically, a parent or guardian joins the call. If your child is 18 or older, they’re welcome to join directly — or together with you if that feels best.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No referral is needed. Parents and caregivers can book directly with us — it only takes a few minutes.

What if I want a consult for multiple children?

We’re happy to accommodate families with multiple children. Consults last 30 minutes for one child, 45 minutes for two, and 60 minutes for three.
