"We are so grateful for tools Christine offered us and our daughter in navigating her worries and anxieties. We regularly use them. Christine is so kind, patient, and built an open, honest, trusting relationship with our daughter that has been invaluable."

"Was extremely helpful for my child to learn tools to regulate emotions and find other ways to solve or react to situations."

"Ms. King was very attentive and relatable. She kept me involved (as much as she could) and connected with my 15 year old daughter (which is not an easy task). Ms. Kings support really helped my daughter get through her anxiety around her finals and regents. We are looking forward to re-engaging once the school year starts back. Thank you Handspring!"

"Michael was incredible! Ben thoroughly enjoyed speaking with him and learned so much about himself. I often caught my son Ben reminding himself what Michael would tell him what to do. He was incredible."

"Alexis was so amazing with my teenage son, she got him to open up, talk about the issues he was facing and his dad plus myself (his mother) come together as a family unit. I appreciate her time patience and guidance over the last 7 months. I will highly recommend handspring!"

"Alexis was amazing and so personable with my child. She has definitely helped her and I’m happy to say that my child has overcome her issue. My childhood loved going to the sessions because she felt like it was talking to a friend and not a therapist. I believe that made it easier for my child to open up and have a great experience."

"I have recommended Handspring to many of my friends for their kids and parents for my students when they have asked. My daughter Selena, has been discharged as she is doing great now. We just have to work on her ADHD and am thinking of continuing her sessions for that."

"I have recommended Handspring numerous times to people as a result of the experiences we have had. I only wish they also had adult therapy. Couldn’t ask for a better model."

"I was unsure how my daughter would do with zoom therapy. She is very introverted. She was quiet the first few sessions. But then she connected with Lorren and looked forward to her weekly sessions. We definitely saw improvements in her day to day executive functioning skills. She was given the tools to work through her anxieties. Her relationship with her brother also seemed to improve. Our goals for her were met."

FAQs

What age range do you treat?

We provide virtual therapy for:

‍

  • Children ages 8–12
  • Teenagers ages 13–17
  • Young adults ages 18–29
  • Parents of children over age 2 for parent coaching and support.

Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person care?

Yes. For the most common mental health challenges in children and teens, including anxiety, depression, and trauma, virtual therapy is clinically proven to be just as effective as in-person care.

‍

Comparable Outcomes: A major 2021 meta-analysis published in American Psychologist reviewed data from tens of thousands of youth and found that teletherapy outcomes were comparable to in-person therapy for anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

‍

Strong Connection: Studies confirm that the "therapeutic alliance" (the trust and bond between a child and their therapist) forms just as strongly over video as it does face-to-face.

‍

Better Consistency: Virtual care often leads to higher attendance rates because it removes common barriers like travel time, traffic, and scheduling conflicts.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes — we’re in-network with:

‍

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Aetna
  • Oscar
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Optum
  • Cigna
  • AmeriHealth

‍

Before services start, we’ll verify your benefits and let you know your exact copay. Most families pay less than $30 per session (including all costs such as copays, deductibles, and coinsurance).

‍

We currently do not accept Medicaid, CHIP, or other state-based plans.

Can I talk to my child’s therapist between sessions?

Absolutely - we see parents as essential partners in the therapy process. We encourage regular check-ins with your child’s therapist between sessions so you can stay in the loop and feel supported every step of the way.

What happens during the consult call?

Your 30-minute consult is a chance to share what’s going on for your child, learn about Handspring’s approach, and see if we’re the right fit. We’ll walk through your goals, answer questions, and outline what care could look like for your family.

Who joins the call?

Typically, a parent or guardian joins the call. If your child is 18 or older, they’re welcome to join directly — or together with you if that feels best.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No referral is needed. Parents and caregivers can book directly with us — it only takes a few minutes.

What if I want a consult for multiple children?

We’re happy to accommodate families with multiple children. Consults last 30 minutes for one child, 45 minutes for two, and 60 minutes for three.
