"Katerina was amazing with my son. She was patient and caring. Katerina helped my son figure out emotions and ways to help with the concerns we had as a family. Katerina made sure we were all on the same page with my son and made us feel at ease. My concern about my son being discharged was scary for me but Katerina made sure we had a plan in place and spoke to my son and made sure we all knew we could receive additional treatment when and/if needed."

"I found Susannah to be a perfect fit for Maddy. Her guidance was right on target. Maddy looked forward to meeting with her weekly and then every other week as we prepared for discharge. I was initially hesitant to the sessions being virtual but it was a perfect fit for my daughter. I think being in her own room made her feel safe and comfortable to share."

"Lindsey was an absolute heaven sent for our teen daughter. So much forward progress took place! We lived in FL and had a 2 hurricanes hit our area while our teen was in therapy. Lindsey was in constant contact with us throughout that time as a support system for our teen, to help her with her anxiety, etc. Lindsey was the perfect fit for us and she returned the sparkle back to my daughter's eyes! I am forever grateful!"

"It was helpful that he could talk to Morgan in the privacy of his room without having to interrupt his schedule with friends or work. As a matter of fact he was able to facetime once over his phone when he had therapy at a time he was at work and was permitted a break."

"Aliza was wonderful with Maya. She taught her a lot of coping mechanisms and was extremely supportive as well as communicative with me as a parent. We already decided that. If Maya feels like she would need therapy in the future, Aliza would be the first one we call. Thank you!"

"Robyn was instrumental in mending fences between my daughter and I. We are now able to communicate better and less confrontations between us. She also helped her in dealing with the passing of her Dad. Thankfully Julia is now a college student, having graduated high school with a 5.2 GPA."

FAQs

What age range do you treat?

We provide virtual therapy for:

‍

  • Children ages 8–12
  • Teenagers ages 13–17
  • Young adults ages 18–29
  • Parents of children over age 2 for parent coaching and support.

Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person care?

Yes. For the most common mental health challenges in children and teens, including anxiety, depression, and trauma, virtual therapy is clinically proven to be just as effective as in-person care.

‍

Comparable Outcomes: A major 2021 meta-analysis published in American Psychologist reviewed data from tens of thousands of youth and found that teletherapy outcomes were comparable to in-person therapy for anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

‍

Strong Connection: Studies confirm that the "therapeutic alliance" (the trust and bond between a child and their therapist) forms just as strongly over video as it does face-to-face.

‍

Better Consistency: Virtual care often leads to higher attendance rates because it removes common barriers like travel time, traffic, and scheduling conflicts.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes — we’re in-network with:

‍

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Aetna
  • Oscar
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Optum
  • Cigna
  • AmeriHealth

‍

Before services start, we’ll verify your benefits and let you know your exact copay. Most families pay less than $30 per session (including all costs such as copays, deductibles, and coinsurance).

‍

We currently do not accept Medicaid, CHIP, or other state-based plans.

Can I talk to my child’s therapist between sessions?

Absolutely - we see parents as essential partners in the therapy process. We encourage regular check-ins with your child’s therapist between sessions so you can stay in the loop and feel supported every step of the way.

What happens during the consult call?

Your 30-minute consult is a chance to share what’s going on for your child, learn about Handspring’s approach, and see if we’re the right fit. We’ll walk through your goals, answer questions, and outline what care could look like for your family.

Who joins the call?

Typically, a parent or guardian joins the call. If your child is 18 or older, they’re welcome to join directly — or together with you if that feels best.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No referral is needed. Parents and caregivers can book directly with us — it only takes a few minutes.

What if I want a consult for multiple children?

We’re happy to accommodate families with multiple children. Consults last 30 minutes for one child, 45 minutes for two, and 60 minutes for three.
