I am 30 years old from Washington State and have been in the field of Social Work since 2016, working as a therapist for the past 5 years. Nearly 10 years later, I still find myself loving the work and people I have the privilege of serving. I have worked in the foster system, applied behavior analysis, supervised visitation, adult and pediatric hospital social work, geriatrics, and with all ages of mental health. Time after time, I always find my way back to serving youth and families. Coming from a children's specialty care program, I have a deep passion for working with kiddos and caregivers. My ABA background, along with my motivational interviewing and strengths-based approach, make me eager to help families focus on ways to build connection and tackle challenges as a team. As shared before, I believe it is a privilege to be trusted by caregivers and parents, and I am honored to step in during a challenging season of life and offer guidance and support. I am CBT+ certified, and have additional training in trauma and behavior modification. I firmly believe success with this population is rooted in a family system and solution-focused approach. As a therapist and a person, I find it extremely important not to take life too seriously. While the challenges families are facing are real, I prioritize time in each session to help these kiddos crack a smile. Usually, this is done at my own expense, which I am more than okay with! I look forward to having the opportunity to work with you and your loved ones!

My experience working with children/adolescents from the start of my internship as a high school counselor was uplifting; it taught me how this demographic benefits from having a professional adult they can confide in. I understand therapy could be scary/uncomfortable, so I like to adopt a humanistic approach; which entails building rapport with my clients/getting a better understanding of their interests.
Together with my clients; I'll help normalize their experiences using psychoeducation and provide coping strategies to combat against stressors (using a CBT-modality of treatment). Clients that come to me often struggle with depression, anxiety, academic/family stress, gender/sexual identity issues, trauma and inattentiveness.

I help teens and young adults who feel weighed down by sadness, anxiety, or that persistent voice whispering, I’m not good enough.
As a first-gen Latina therapist and someone who’s navigated my own valleys, I know how daunting it can be to share these vulnerable parts of yourself—especially when you’re young. That’s why I prioritize creating a space where you feel truly safe, heard, and free from judgment. (And parents: I know how hard it is to watch your child struggle. My goal is to help them grow while honoring their need for autonomy.)
At Handspring Health, our work together blends:
• Relational safety — We’ll explore the roots of patterns holding you back, helping you feel understood and curious (not critical) about your own story.
• Gentle skill-building — Practical tools to soften self-doubt, respond to big emotions, and cultivate self-compassion.
• Playful creativity — Therapy isn’t just about direct talk—sometimes emotions hide in metaphors, daydreams, or the TV shows we binge. Together, we’ll explore the stories and symbols that resonate with you (yes, even that anime scene or viral song!), using them as bridges to the feelings that are harder to name.
Together, we’ll help those heavy emotions feel less like enemies and more like parts of your story you can hold with care. You deserve more than just "getting by"—you deserve to thrive, with a therapist who gets it.
When I’m not in sessions, you’ll find me playing with my little one, wandering in nature, or hunting for my next read on BookTok.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) licensed in the state of WA, specializing in grief and loss, anxiety and depression.
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy, as both modalities help me and the client build a shared understanding of their reality and allow us to work together to chart a path forward.
I have found that my style and approach is a good fit for individuals who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, stress and anger. I work to help my clients navigate these transition periods and to build skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life as they find new meaning.
I decided to become a therapist because I have always wanted to help people. Whether it was in social services, volunteering in my community, or being a trusted and loyal friend, I have always naturally been drawn to helping people through difficult times. I enjoy seeing individuals transition through painful situations and becoming the best versions of themselves.
My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment.
My approach to goal setting with clients is all about working together to define what you want to accomplish in our time together. This often starts by building trust between us and getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy. Over time, we’ll work together to set goals and track your progress.
What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about how you have been feeling recently, and me asking questions to better understand how come you may be feeling that way.
The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. Each individual is different, and I like to listen first before assuming I know what will work best for you moving forward.
Hi, I’m Denise. I help children, teens, and families find strength, hope, and new ways forward during challenging times. In our sessions, we’ll work together to understand what’s going on, build skills to cope with stress, and create healthy patterns that help you or your child thrive. I use approaches like mindfulness, positive psychology, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I adjust every session to fit each person’s needs, whether that’s through conversation, hands-on activities, or creative exercises.
I believe therapy works best when it feels safe and collaborative, so I involve caregivers whenever it supports the child’s progress. My goal is to make you feel heard, understood, and supported every step of the way.
